Helping churches move From the  Sanctuary to the  Streets

In the past, we invited people to our church building.

Today, we need to invite our people into loving their neighbors.

We help create a culture shift to Great Commandment living.

The Great Commandment is not rocket science. Everyone can participate.

Intentional Living

Ignite an atmosphere of living the Great Commandment.

See A Way

Equip your Church to “See a Way” so that they can “Have a Way” to love their neighbors

Ready to move beyond a Sunday –centric Church but not sure how?

The church’s unintentional focus has long been inward, holding a steady course of maintenance rather than harnessing the promised power of loving our neighbor. Simply put, we are over learned and under sent. We recognize that we need a shift from coffee makers to disciple makers. The problem is we are afraid.

“We’re afraid it will be too time consuming.”

“We’re afraid we won’t have the right answers.”

“We’re afraid we will make our neighbors a project.”

We retreat back to our classrooms to learn.  But the truth is, living and learning the Great Commandment simultaneously is better for us… and better for our neighbor.

Don’t live in the classroom

It’s Purposeless

Without intentionality, people become bored and purposeless, missing the joy of truly following Jesus.

You Miss Out

You miss out on the blessing of experiencing community and loving your neighbor

Your Neighbors Miss Out

Your neighbors miss
out on community and possibly even meeting Jesus through you.

There is a better way. It’s our conviction that the church needs to rediscover the priority and practice of loving our neighbors. This doesn’t have to be complicated Jesus called his yoke “easy” for a reason.
Front yard mission is about recovering our calling to love our neighbors. It’s about moving out in love towards the people God has put in our path. it’s about embracing our identities as ambassadors of another kingdom in the places we frequent most. it’s about building the essential rhythms of mission into our daily lives: Pray First. Love All. Invite Often.

As a church planter and pastor with 17 years of experience, I understand the difficulty and frustration of convincing people to stay on mission, conveying the gospel in their neighborhoods and in their circles of influence.

I’ve spent the last several years living and intentionally creating community in my
neighborhood, helping leaders and churches do the same.

Here’s the good news… It’s not rocket science. Anyone can do it.

Live Intentionally

See a way to ignite the atmosphere of living the Great Commandment.

"Sadly, many Christians are failing to obey what Jesus declared to be the second greatest commandment, loving our neighbor. Happily, Jonathan and Steve have created a resource that can solve that problem. Front Yard Mission is full of practical, biblical advice for how to love your neighbor, and contains many stories that illustrate what it looks like to love your neighbor in real life. Read this book and apply it and watch God transform your neighborhood. Encourage others in your church to do the same and you just might see God transform your whole community.

"Anything that creates an easy connector can make Front Yard Mission almost effortless and deeply rewarding. Pray, pay attention and step into the wide-open places prepared for you. And have fun!"

-Becky Martin

"The beauty of Front Yard Mission is that it is infectious. As we reached out to one neighbor, our entire neighborhood experienced a transformation. Strangers became friends, and we began caring for one another like family. Our urban community became a tight knit, caring, and richer place, where the speed of love guided our lives reminding us that, sometimes, we need to slow down to truly live out the teachings of Jesus in our neighborhood."

-Matt Manney

"I believe it was the act of praying that opened the door for the Holy Spirit to begin softening our hearts towards our neighbors in a way that led to us having the desire to connect with them in the first place. I believe it was through prayer that we began to have creative ideas of how we could invite them into our home and into our lives."

– Scott Leddy

Hi, I’m Jonathan, director of Front Yard Mission.

In 2017 I came across a scripture that I’d read a hundred times before. Paul was preaching his famous “to an unknown God” sermon to the city of Athens. In the middle of it he said this.

From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.”  Acts 17:26-27

What jumped out at me was God had strategically placed me in my neighborhood so that people would reach out to Him and perhaps find Him. I had been a successful church planter for 17 years with seemingly a lot of fruit to show for it, but the problem was my vocation had become more important than my location.

My wife and I began to ask the question, “What would it look like to live out the Great Commandment in our neighborhood?”

To our surprise, as we became more intentional about doing the thing that Jesus said mattered most, the atmosphere in our neighborhood began to change.

In 2020 I quit my job as a Pastor and went all in with Front Yard Mission. I’ve dedicated my life to equip the church to love God and neighbor. I am more certain than ever that the church needs to be living out what Jesus said mattered most.
